Solutions — Wind power
Monitoring of wind plants and delivery substations
EnerSync brings into one view the substation node, with wind, grid quality and breaker status, and the production and feed-in meters read over DLMS: you know how much the plant produces, how much it feeds in and why it stopped.
01 — What it solves
Substation and meters on the same page
Wind measured at the substation
Average speed and minimum, average and maximum direction every quarter hour, with a 16-sector wind rose over the chosen period.
Grid quality and alarms
Phase voltages and currents, frequency, residual current and voltage, box and cabinet temperatures, breaker and grid-protection status over time.
Produced, fed in, availability
Energy and power from the production and feed-in meters, theoretical production from the turbine curve compared with the real one, plant availability and MTBF from the alarm history over time.
02 — How it works
How it works
01
Substation node
A node in the substation reads anemometer, electrical measurements and breaker digital inputs over Modbus and sends one sample every quarter hour.
02
DLMS meters
The production and feed-in meters, in low and medium voltage, are read over DLMS/COSEM with their transformation constants.
03
Aligned series
Node and meters converge in the same plant: 15-minute, hourly and daily aggregations on the same time base.
04
Synoptic and charts
Synoptic with breaker, grid-fault and extractor status; charts of wind, grid, temperatures, energy and alarms over time.

04 — Regulation and obligations
Connection, metering and incentives of generation plants
CEI 0-16
Technical rule for medium-voltage connection: the interface and general protections (voltage and frequency thresholds) whose trips the substation node records.
ARERA, Resolution 458/2016/R/eel — TIME
Metering of produced and injected energy: the production and feed-in meters read over DLMS with their constants give the metering data with its history.
Italian D.Lgs. 199/2021
Promotion of renewable sources: production measured and available over time as the basis for incentives, guarantees of origin and reporting.
GSE obligations for incentivised plants
Reporting of produced and injected energy: a consistent per-plant history, with meters and substation aligned, simplifies audits.
Indicative references, current at publication date: they do not replace a regulatory check for your case.
05 — Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions on wind monitoring
Do you read turbine or substation data?
Substation and meter data: wind, grid, breakers, produced and fed-in energy. Turbine internals (rotor, pitch) are out of scope.
Where does the theoretical production come from?
From the turbine power curve, set for the plant, applied to the measured wind speed: it serves for comparison with real production, not as a measurement.
Do you compute availability and MTBF?
Yes: from the alarm status over time (breakers, grid faults, extractors) the platform derives downtime hours, plant availability over the period and mean time between failures, comparable with the production lost on the theoretical curve.
Can the meter data be integrated?
Yes: the production and feed-in meters follow the DLMS vertical, with profiles and monthly data through the API.
