03 — Security
A secure, certified, reliable cloud
The platform runs on carefully selected cloud infrastructure: hyperscaler-grade scalability, distribution and standards. European digital sovereignty is our goal, and the path towards it also runs through the adoption of open-source platforms such as Kubernetes.

Global data centers with EU data residency, geographic redundancy and the strictest compliance standards in the industry.

European sovereignty — OVHcloud
Platform data has always resided within the European Union. By adopting European providers such as OVHcloud we go one step further, following the EU's digital sovereignty path: a European technology supply chain, independent of non-EU jurisdictions.

04 — Benefits
The benefits of the cloud, applied to metering
Scalable access
Add metering points and users with no infrastructure investment: the platform grows with your fleet.
Automatic updates
New features, drivers and security patches reach production with no downtime and no on-site work.
Subscription pricing
No hardware to buy, no servers to maintain: one predictable fee, everything included.
Flexibility
Enable only the verticals you need — water, heat, energy — and expand whenever you want.
Multi-device
Responsive dashboards: desktop in the control room, tablet and phone in the field, same data everywhere.
Support included
The team that builds the platform is the team that supports you, from rollout to day-to-day operations.
05 — TCO
The real cost: traditional vs cloud SaaS
The comparison doesn't end with the licence fee: real cost is measured over the full life cycle, typically 5 years. In the traditional model the company sinks capital that depreciates; with SaaS it pays for what it uses, when it uses it.
Cost item
Traditional on-premise
Cloud SaaS
Server hardware
Dedicated, redundant servers, replaced every 4-5 years
None: provider infrastructure
Software licences
Perpetual licence + 18-22% yearly maintenance
Predictable subscription, updates included
Dedicated IT staff
Patching, backups, monitoring: 0.3-0.5 FTE
Zero: the platform is operated by the vendor
Security & disaster recovery
Firewall, antivirus, DR site on the customer
Included: at-rest encryption, audit, multi-zone redundancy
ERP / BI integration
Custom developments, €15-30k per project
REST API included, with scoped tokens
Obsolescence
End-of-life rebuild, with surprises
Continuous evolution, no “big bang”
The hidden costs of on-premise
- “Invisible” IT time: even 2 days/month is worth thousands of euros a year
- Single point of knowledge: the system depends on one person
- Unplanned hardware renewals at end of useful life
- Dedicated modems and SIMs: fees and field visits that grow with the fleet
- Unattended security incidents: a data breach costs millions (IBM, Cost of a Data Breach)
The real saving is not in the licence, but in the things you stop having to do: a constant, predictable spend instead of yearly surprises.
06 — Features
Everything you need to manage your meter fleet
An operations platform designed for utilities, ESCos and energy managers: from field data collection to delivery into your business systems.
White-label responsive dashboard
A multi-tenant portal under your brand: dedicated domains, logos and login for every customer or division.
Multi-vendor and multi-protocol
Drivers for the leading manufacturers and protocols, one normalized data model to work with.
Events, power quality and thresholds
Alerts on grid events, supply quality and threshold breaches, with notifications and a browsable history.
REST API and developer portal
A /v1 API with per-feature scoped tokens, a test sandbox and documentation: integrating ERP and BI takes days, not months.
Compliant metrological history
Metrological history retained according to Italian D.M. 93/2017, with a full audit log of every operation.
Channel-agnostic communication
GSM/GPRS, LTE, NB-IoT, TCP, RS485, MQTT: the platform ingests from any channel, including real time over WebSocket.
Data verticals
Each vertical ships with dedicated data contracts, drivers and views — on the same platform.
07 — FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to replace my existing meters?
No. The platform is multi-vendor and multi-protocol: an ever-growing driver library covers the leading manufacturers of electricity, heat and water meters, with custom development available from the R&D team.
How does meter data reach the platform?
Through whichever channel suits your field: GSM/GPRS, LTE, NB-IoT, LoRaWAN, TCP, RS485, MQTT or dedicated gateways for legacy networks. The transport layer is a detail, not a constraint.
Can I integrate the data into my ERP or BI systems?
Yes: every tenant gets documented REST APIs with fine-grained token permissions, a developer portal and a sandbox to test integrations without touching production data.
Where does the data reside?
Within the European Union, on carefully selected cloud infrastructure. European digital sovereignty is our goal, and the path towards it also runs through European providers and open-source platforms.
How is the data protected?
Authentication with a dedicated identity provider (MFA and SSO), multi-tenant isolation, secrets encrypted at rest, revocable tokens and a full audit log of every operation. Details are in the Security section.
How long does activation take?
Days, not months: the portal is ready — you configure brand, users and metering points. Adding a new site is a self-service operation.
How does the pricing model work?
An all-inclusive subscription, proportional to what you use: no hardware to buy, updates and support included. Contact us for a proposal on your meter fleet.
