Today we are introducing Enersync 4, the fourth generation of our cloud platform for automatic meter reading. It is not an update to the platform you know: it is a complete redesign, from the first component to the last, built to manage every metering network — water, heat, electricity, gas, photovoltaic, wind, environmental sensors — with a single data model, a single console and a single API. Everything you do with Enersync today is still there: what changes is the foundation underneath.
In this article we walk through what changes, and why.
One product, your brand
Enersync 4 is multi-brand by design. Every partner can offer the platform under their own identity: domain, logo, light and dark theme assets, legal pages, corporate website and a dedicated login — all carrying the partner's brand, on a single infrastructure that is maintained and updated centrally.
Login is unified across every surface (console, developer portal, support) and each brand has its own identity provider, with SSO and multi-factor authentication.
Every metering network, one reading
At the heart of Enersync 4 is a normalized data model: every vertical — whatever the protocol or manufacturer — lands in the same console and the same API, with the same conventions. Every vertical you already run today is on board:
- ICG meters and electricity metering groups — electricity meters read over DLMS/COSEM and IEC 62056-21 via modem, internet or VPN: 15-minute load profiles, monthly billing data, the outcome of every call and ARERA tariff bands applied on read. The same treatment covers S0 pulse counters (active and reactive, import and export) from existing concentrators and 4G data loggers.
- Heat — thermal energy meters: energy, volume, power, flow rate, supply and return temperatures, events, and daily consumption computed automatically.
- Water — water meters on LoRaWAN networks: hourly and daily readings, consumption per interval, alarms, battery status and radio link quality, with a detail page for every device.
- Electricity smart meters (Chain2) — CEI TS 13-82/13-83 via Chain2Gate: quarter-hourly load curve, daily, weekly and monthly closures per tariff band, voltage quality, grid events, and a unified per-POD view covering both consumption and production.
- Power metering — MQTT-connected meters with quarter-hourly load curves, monthly billing totalizers, live per-phase snapshots and ARERA F1/F2/F3 tariff bands derived automatically.
- Gas — smart meters and volume correctors: daily and hourly readings, volumes corrected to standard conditions, contractual thresholds and alarms (overruns, stopped meter, battery, tampering), data ready for billing.
- Photovoltaic — plants with inverters, junction boxes and solarimeters over Modbus: per-string production at 15 minutes, irradiance and temperatures with validated readings, history per plant.
- Wind power — plants and delivery substations: wind speed and direction, grid quality and breaker status, energy produced and exported from DLMS meters, theoretical output on the turbine curve compared with the real one.
- Environmental sensors — temperature, humidity, CO₂, air quality, light, presence, flooding and more: an open model where each sensor brings its own set of metrics, on private LoRaWAN networks or The Things Network.
Each customer enables only the verticals they need: menus and APIs adapt accordingly, all on the same foundation.
Metrological honesty
A metering platform is worth exactly the trust you can place in its numbers. Enersync 4 applies the same rigour that has always set the platform apart, with clear rules that remain unchanged:
- Raw data is never rewritten. Every transmission is archived exactly as it arrived, before any processing.
- Clock correction at read time. If a meter's clock drifts, data is shown at the correct time — but the correction is applied on read, it is reversible, and the raw record stays available.
- Every reading declares what it is. In load profiles each value is marked as real, recovered or interpolated. Beyond a certain window we invent nothing: the gap stays visible.
- Conflicts go into quarantine. A reading that contradicts data already acquired does not overwrite it: it is isolated and flagged, pending verification.
Your data is yours: API, sandbox, developer portal
Every customer gets a REST API to take their data wherever it is needed — ERP, business intelligence, in-house applications:
- Tokens with granular permissions per vertical, instantly revocable from the portal.
- Interactive documentation generated directly from the API's real contracts: it cannot drift from actual behavior.
- Built-in playground: build the call, send it, inspect the response and grab a ready-made snippet in cURL, fetch or Python.
- A free, deterministic sandbox: realistic synthetic data and "magic values" to simulate errors, limits and timeouts — so the integration is proven before it ever touches production.
We see the network, not just the meters
Enersync 4 includes a LoRaWAN network explorer: a geographic map of gateways and devices, signal-quality heatmaps, synchronized charts and a ranking of the devices with the weakest link.
We don't just read meters: we tell you which ones are about to stop responding, where to densify the network and which device is worth repositioning — before it becomes a hole in your data.
One operations console, in real time
The administration console brings the whole fleet together: an overview with key indicators, per-vertical pages with device lists and details, and management of customers, users and Operating Units (sites, divisions, buildings — each user only sees what they are responsible for).
Every operation lands in a complete, filterable audit log with shareable links, updated live: events appear on monitoring pages within a few tens of milliseconds, with no reload. Light and dark themes, interface in Italian and English.
Security, by design
- Data isolation between customers by design, not by configuration.
- Authentication with MFA and SSO on every surface.
- 256-bit API tokens, shown once and stored only as hashes.
- Secrets encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM), and rate limiting per customer and per token.
- Data resident in the European Union, with metrological history retained in accordance with Italian D.M. 93/2017.
Migrating without stopping
We know a metering network cannot be switched off for a platform change. That is why Enersync 4 is designed for coexistence: field concentrators can transmit to the existing system and to the new platform in parallel, vertical by vertical, with no big bang and no downtime.
Let's talk
Enersync 4 is already in production. If you operate a metering fleet — as a utility, an ESCo or an energy manager — and want to see it at work on your own data, let's talk about your AMR project: book a call.
